Avalon had a massive influx of guinea pigs
back in November when a breeding farm sent a lot of their unwanted pigs to the
auctions. Whilst they would have been looked after OK at breeders, as soon as
they are in transit, their quality of life will start to deteriorate. On this
occasion, they have probably been squashed up in the pens together, risking
suffocation, for a week before they went to auction, and purchased by Avalon.
The original dealer is not known for mistreatment, so it would have just been
the week leading up to the auction when the pigs were living in foul
conditions, but this is still a week too long. A few weeks later, Avalon
managed to collect more unwanted pigs directly from the dealer to avoid the
horrible auctions, so that was a great success.
